It is against the law for teens under 18 to smoke. Many theme parks, beaches, and water parks enable teens that are attending without their parents to smoke and many local business are selling cigarettes to minors. Preventing teen smoking is crucial since more than half of all smokers begin smoking before the age of 14 and 90% begin by the age of 19. The average age of first use is 13-14 years of age. Take action by encouraging these places to adopt a smoke free policy, enforce underage smoking laws and prevent second-hand smoke exposure.
