Will have opportunities to engage in meaningful skill building activities that are designed to capture the interest and participation of young people

- Youth learn and practice new skills, such as public speaking, critical thinking or analytical skills, community organizing, and action planning
- Skill building activities are designed based upon what young people are interested in
Will have opportunities for caring and meaningful relationships among youth and with adults

- Guidance and practical support: e.g., youth are able to go to staff for guidance, to obtain resource and referral information, or for "navigation" advice
- Emotional support: e.g., advisors pay attention to what's going on in the lives of youth members
- Adult knowledge of youth: e.g., youth feel that adults know them well and that their relationships with adults are consistent over time
- Peer knowledge of you: e.g., youth have opportunities to get to know their peers
