Above the Influence
Our goal is to help you stay above the influence. The more aware you are of the influences around you, the better prepared you will be to stand up to the pressures that keep you down. This website and the Above the Influence ads you see on TV and in magazines are created for the National Youth Anti-Drug Media Campaign (a program of the Office of National Drug Control Policy). This campaign reflects what teens across the country have told us is going on in their lives.

Alcohol & Drug Abuse Services Prevention Team
Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services (ADAS) provides a range of outpatient and residential treatment programs designed to reduce or eliminate the abuse of alcohol and other drugs within the community. Services include outreach to schools and the general community.

The Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs is responsible for administering prevention, treatment, and recovery services for alcohol and drug abuse and problem gambling.

Community Service Programs (CSP)-Project PATH
Project PATH (Positive Action Toward Health) is a non-profit, community-based alcohol, tobacco, and other drug (ATOD) prevention program. Project PATH is committed to creating a safe and healthy Orange County by eliminating problems associated with alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use through education, training, and technical assistance. Project PATH employs Health Educators to carry out its mission. Educated in theories of public health, PATH Health Educators are skilled in mobilizing community leaders to address public health concerns. These trained facilitators have a vast knowledge of community assessment, program planning, implementation and evaluation in health education.

NCADD-Community Alliance Network
Community Alliance Network (CAN) is the prevention arm of the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence - Orange County (NCADD-OC) and is dedicated to creating and implementing prevention strategies that de-normalize the use of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs (ATOD's). Provides leadership in formulation of public policy issues, gathers and disseminates valid educational information about abuse of alcohol and other drugs, alcoholism, other drug addiction, and related problems, recruits and organizes a countywide constituency in support of these efforts, and creates broad-based approaches to marketing, brokering, and distributing innovative programs and services based on the latest research and information.

South Orange County Underage Drinking Task Force

The goal is to promote healthy lifestyles among youth by preventing underage drinking and drug use. Tera Glass, Health Educator for the Community Alliance Network, leads the Task Force as they strive to reduce the prevalence of underage drinking through community education and awareness. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)
SAMHSA works to improve the quality and availability of substance abuse prevention, alcohol and drug addiction treatment, and mental health services.

Youth Research
The ImpacTeen project, part of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Bridging the Gap: Research Informing Practice and Policy for Healthy Youth Behavior, focuses on economic, environmental, and policy influences on youth substance use, obesity, and physical activity.
