Chapter members in the Friday Night Live Kids chapter, under the direction of their advisors Loryn Lawson and Suzy Jurgensen, held a shoe collection drive to benefit Share our Soles (S.O.S.), a nonprofit organization dedicated to collecting, washing, and donating used athletic shoes to underprivileged children. The outgrown or out-of-season shoes (in good condition) are distributed to deserving youths from Los Angeles to Mexico to as far away as Africa. Jurgensen said, “by providing these children with shoes, Share Our Soles hopes to encourage a love for running and to spread its many benefits, including positive self esteem, improved health, and foster new friendships.” Their efforts were featured in the Fullerton News Tribune on January 28, 2010.
