Wear It or Bare It
Clothing Drive

Magnolia High School’s Friday Night Live advisor, Paul Schiada, informed the chapter leaders about a shelter in their community in need of help. This shelter is known as the Anaheim Interfaith Shelter. Since 1987, the Anaheim Interfaith Shelter/Halcyon has been serving homeless families with children to get back on their feet. The chapter decided to help by organizing a clothing drive – calling it the “Wear it or Bare it Clothing Drive.”

Chapter Vice President, Yazmin Castaneda, was put in charge of organizing this community service project. She decided to notify students and staff on campus about the Anaheim Interfaith Shelter by posting flyers and making announcements. Those who had items to donate simply dropped them off in Mr. Schiada’s classroom anytime during the two week period the clothing drive was held. Chapter members then sorted the donated clothing items into boxes by categories: jeans, shirts, sweaters, etc. (while also separating them by men’s clothing, women’s clothing, and children’s clothing). The boxes were delivered to Ms. Ruth Stone at the shelter, who is always eager and pleased to accept large donations.

Magnolia High School’s Friday Night Live chapter is pleased to know they’ve helped those in their community who are in need and hope to continue on with this community service project in the years to come.
