Becoming an Advisor
 > Home > Advisors > Becoming an Advisor

The role of an advisor is to support the activities of a chapter and actively engage youth in problem solving, decision making, skill building, and interpersonal communications. The advisor and chapter leaders typically meet once a week to plan alcohol, tobacco, other drug, and violence (ATODV) prevention projects and host chapter events. The Orange County Friday Night Live Partnership (OCFNLP) staff work closely with the advisor to focus on youths' assets, provide meaningful skill development opportunities, and build on chapter members strengths to achieve a youth led and youth driven program.

Chapter advisors are connected to a statewide network of adults all working toward a common goal: having a positive impact on the lives of young people. Locally, OCFNLP provides an array of support, technical assistance, and advisor trainings to assist you in your role as advisor.
